Thread starter Brian Underwood Start date Feb 28, Brian Underwood Chumono. Here is yet another huge redwood that Jim had me hollow out. It was an unfinished project from last year's summer apprenticeship, and we both agreed it was time to complete the carving. The tree stands over 3 feet tall, and I'll try to update the pictures when I have more.
It has LOTS of work left. I still need to do some detail carving, let the wood dry, burn it, and of course many years of re-wiring.
Let me know what yall think! Specialkayme Mame.
Impressive looking. JudyB Queen of the Nuts. Looks like it took a long time to do, does the tree notice this much carving? It looks like it'll be nice after it weathers.
It looks great, Brian! Definitely update it once you've burned it out etc. BTW, you weren't there at the meeting on Tuesday. Jim brought the other Redwood that you'd carved for show-and-tell.
He was giving you heaps of praise for your carving talents! Thanks all!Star rating is the number one factor used by consumers to judge a business tweet4. The same frequency distribution can be depicted in a graph as shown in Figure 1.
This type of graph is often referred to as a histogram or bar chart. Frequency distribution bar chart. Distributions may also be displayed using percentages. For example, you could use percentages to describe the:Central Tendency. The central tendency of a distribution is an estimate of the "center" of a distribution of values. There are three major types of estimates of central tendency:The Mean or average is probably the most commonly used method of describing central tendency.
To compute the mean all you do is add up all the values and divide by the number of values. For example, the mean or average quiz score is determined by summing all the scores and dividing by the number of students taking the exam. For example, consider the test score values:The Median is the score found at the exact middle of the set of values. One way to compute the median is to list all scores in numerical order, and then locate the score in the center of the sample.
Since both of these scores are 20, the median is 20. If the two middle scores had different values, you would have to interpolate to determine the median. The mode is the most frequently occurring value in the set of scores.
To determine the mode, you might again order the scores as shown above, and then count each one. The most frequently occurring value is the mode. In our example, the value 15 occurs three times and is the model.
In some distributions there is more than one modal value. For instance, in a bimodal distribution there are two values that occur most frequently. Notice that for the same set of 8 scores we got three different values -- 20. If the distribution is truly normal (i.
Dispersion refers to the spread of the values around the central tendency. There are two common measures of dispersion, the range and the standard deviation. The range is simply the highest value minus the lowest value. The Standard Deviation is a more accurate and detailed estimate of dispersion because an outlier can greatly exaggerate the range (as was true in this example where the single outlier value of 36 stands apart from the rest of the values.
The Standard Deviation shows the relation that set of scores has to the mean of the sample. Again lets take the set of scores:to compute the standard deviation, we first find the distance between each value and the mean.
We know from above that the mean is 20. So, the differences from the mean are:15 - 20. Next, we square each discrepancy:-5. Here, the sum is 350.The importances tell us which values contributed most to the anomaly score. A number between 0 and 1. The closer to one the more anomalous is the row. A status code that reflects the status of the anomaly detector creation. Example: 1 complement optional If complement is true, complementary items are also taken into account.
Example: "This is a description of my new association" Global numeric field transformation parameters. Specifies the fields that won't be included in the association.
Example: true name optional The name you want to give to the new association. Example: "lift" seed optional A string to be hashed to generate deterministic samples. Example: "width" All the information that you need to recreate the association.
It includes the field's dictionary describing the fields, and the associations' items and rules. See the Associations Object definition below. This will be 201 upon successful creation of the association and 200 afterwards. Make sure that you check the code that comes with the status attribute to make sure that the association creation has been completed without errors. This is the date and time in which the association was created with microsecond precision.
The list of fields's ids that were excluded to build the association. In a future version, you will be able to share association with other co-workers or, if desired, make them publicly available.
This is the date and time in which the association was updated with microsecond precision. See the discretization table. An array of unique items detected in the datasest. See Item Object below. A real number between -1 and 1 specifying the minimum leverage for the rules discovered. An array of association rules discovered in the dataset.
The total number of rules is less than or equal to k. See Rule Object below. Summary statistics about the discovered rules. These fields are documented in Numeric Field Summary. As in the numeric field summary, the presence of counts or bins depends on the number of distinct values. For items derived from numeric fields represent number ranges, this is the numerical value where the bin ends for a particular item.See eta-squared for more information.
The value of the F statistic, which is used to assess whether the expected values of a quantitative variable within several pre-defined groups differ from each other. It is the ratio of the variance calculated among the means to the variance within the samples.
This parameter specifies the number of samples to be used during the normality test. If not given, defaults to 1024. Example: "MyADSeed" category optional The category that best describes the test. Specifies the fields that won't be included in the test. This will be 201 upon successful creation of the statistical test and 200 afterwards. Make sure that you check the code that comes with the status attribute to make sure that the statistical test creation has been completed without errors.
This is the date and time in which the statistical test was created with microsecond precision. True when the statistical test has been built in development mode. The list of fields's ids that were excluded to build the statistical test. The list of input fields' ids used to build the statistical test. In a future version, you will be able to share statistical test with other co-workers or, if desired, make them publicly available.
It includes the field's dictionary describing the fields and their summaries, and the statistical tests. See the Statistical Tests Object definition below. A description of the status of the statistical test. This is the date and time in which the statistical test was updated with microsecond precision. An array of anomalous fields detection test results for each numeric field.
An array of data normality test results for each numeric field. An array of outlier detection test results for each numeric field. A test result which is a dictionary between field ids and test result.
The type of result object varies based on the name of the test. When name is benford, it returns Benford Result Object. The distribution of first significant digits (FSDs) to the Benford's law distribution. For example, the FSD for 2015 is 2, and for 0. The array represents the number of occurences for each digit from 1 to 9. Name of the outlier detection test. Currently only value available is grubbs. When name is grubbs, it returns Grubbs Result Object.
An outlier present in the data. It is available only when at at least of one of the boolean values in significant is true. Example: 128 description optional A description of the model up to 8192 characters long.Blizzard please just let me give you that race change money and let me be a bear bear. Eagar Fire Chief Howard Carlson is interviewed by reporter Trisha Hendricks of Channel 12 News in Phoenix at the Arizona Wildfire Forum April 18. EAGAR State Forester Scott Hunt co-hosted the Arizona Wildfire Forum on April 18 in Eagar along with the Arizona State Forestry Division, the Arizona Insurance Council and the Arizona Forest Health Council. Billed as lessons learned in 2011 and community protection going forward, the forum was attended by officials and representatives from the above organizations as well as local and county officials from Apache, Navajo, Greenlee, and Graham counties and those from Payson, Prescott, Tucson, Ponderosa near Flagstaff, and agents with Farmers Insurance.
Hunt started the forum with information about the 2011 fire season and stated that Arizona is considered a wildfire state. Over 9,000 structures were threatened last year with 111 destroyed. There were 19 red flag days last year, which is wind speeds of 20 to 25 miles per hour with gusts up to 60 miles per hour, low relative humidity and high fuel loads.
Hunt went on to give those present the current predictions for the 2012 fire season, which has already started. The National Fire potential map shows the states most at risk with Arizona (the only state in the country that is mostly covered in red) are western New Mexico, Utah and Colorado, a large portion of Florida and up the east coast to North Carolina, as well as parts of California and Nevada.
More firefighters than civilians die in forest fires. The average number since 1990 to 2010 is about 10 civilians per year compared to 20 firefighters. We came from half-way around the world. It was very comforting to know that everything was well arranged.
My mother and I booked a last minute 4 night holiday to Iceland. Nordic visitor organised the whole thing minus flights. Everything ran smoothly bar a hiccup by a Super Jeep tour operator. When we contacted Nordic visitor for help they sorted the problem within 1 hr, with an even better outcome than the original tour.DSCF1838
Great welcome package plus itinerary etc. We found the hotel staff very helpful with advice regarding the most suitable clothing for both of our excursions. We were also advised to moisturise our face in the evening and not to wash our face in the morning to prevent sun or wind burn. Our guides were superb with regards to advice as to the most appropriate clothing to wear on the day of our trips as one day was "warm" and the next day was very cold.
We felt very safe with our guides and found them very friendly and informative. We had the comfort accommodations and the hotels definitely surpassed our expectstions. The tours booked were high quality. Very thoroughly planned with a good variety of accommodation. Very quick procedure on returning the hire car. They later returned our camera to the hotel when we realised we'd left it in the glove box.
Highly recommend taking a guided tour for duration of trip. Simone was our EXCELLENT guide and driver and helped make our group (of 12) trip an amazing adventure.
It is important to remain flexible as daily plans may have to be altered due to weather (blizzard)!. Hinrik was exceptional in his quality of service. Very knowledgeable and helpful, and always cheerful, despite a family bereavement, which he didn't disclose until after the tour, obviously as it might have affected our enjoyment of the trip.
We enjoyed the holiday so much that we want to return to Iceland to see more of the wonderful country. Nordic Visitors could not have done enough for us. We arrived in the middle of a storm and our whole holiday had to be re-scheduled but amazingly we only missed off seeing one thing on the itinerary. A fantastic and memorable holiday. Kolbrun was extremely helpful and efficient, answering my queries promptly including a question about our vouchers which arose whilst we were in Norway.
The trip was a 40th birthday present for me and my husband, with our children, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it - even more than we had expected to.
