O ok lol. So not trying to sound like a broken record, running 91 with the 93 cai tune is fine. The only thing I assume will be affected is that the horsepower will go down some, but the car should run just fine even at wot? Sorry just trying to make sure the car is safe to drive. Posts: Location: Between Orlando and Tampa. Mike, you have it backwards. Running 91 octane gas on the 93 octane tune will cause knock. Running 93 gas on the 91 tune will not. Do not run 91 octane gas with the 93 octane tune on the car. If you must, keep the throttle position very low. WOT will knock and you will destroy the pistons.

The CV style Harley carburetor has a small cylindrical tower protruding from the bottom rear of the spigot behind the bowl. The tower is plugged with a soft metal insert covering the mixture screw. Gaining access to this screw is key to fine tuning and must be remove. Secure the carb in either a vise or by other means that will allow the carburetor to remain steady. Allow the drill to slowly cut into the plug rather than push. Begin by shutting off the petcock fuel valve and starting the engine to allow all fuel within the carburetor bowl to be emptied.
Remove the aircleaner assembly including the backing plate which is attached to each head with a banjo bolt. This is a good time to inspect these bolts for obstructions in their passages. Be sure to install a new set of spark plugs when tuning. Having the mixture properly tuned is critical to making this carburetor perform and should always be performed prior to or at the same time you rejet the carb.
The choke cable can stay attached to the carburetor during this procedure, simply detach the knob end from the horm bracket. Disconnect the fuel line from the fuel inlet on the carburetor or the opposite end connected to the fuel petcock, whichever is simpler to access. The hose is likely fastened using a special crimped clamp. Be sure to have a new hose clamp available. Next loosen both throttle cables from their adjusters located just beyond where they exit the throttle grip.
A couple turns is usually all it takes to give you enough slack. If you count how many turns each adjuster is loosened then you can return them to the exact adjustment when reinstalling your carb. Now that you have enough slack in the cables you can pull the carburetor away from the manifold. A Harley carb is only held to the manifold with a slip fit rubber manifold boot.
Gently rock or twist the carb back and forth as you pull it away from the engine. Remove the cables that you tagged and remove any vacuum hoses.Thriller head.

Noticed the bike called for regular. Switched back, after a couple tanks, starts with a single quick push of starter. Runs great on regular. Using higher octane than is needed does nothing but make your wallet lighter. If you use top tier gasoline, the detergent package is the same for all octanes in the USA at least - others will have to check if manufacturers -automobile- have something similar in their country.

So, I'm fine running E with a 93 octane Predator tune, but shouldn't run 91 octane gas even at high altitude? If running E85, it needs to be a flex fuel vehicle E85 has a octane rating of - so it's the budget performance fuel.
Also, upon reflection, I should have known the answer to my 91 octane vs altitude question. With MAFs, ambient air density shouldn't matter.

That doesnt make sense to me, as I though the 93 octane tune is identical to the 91 tune except for advancing the timing some for the higher octane fuel.
The end result would be more hp and torque with the 93 octane tune assuming you have 93 octane fuel. Some are using 93 octane fuel with the 91 octane tune as they are seeing more power. That knock isn't there on the 91 tune, which allows more timing and more power. What Mike said is correct. So it also depends on how good your 93 octane fuel is, poor quality fuels will cause more detonation and thus reduce performance due to the detonation well actually the pcm thinks it is detonating and removes timing and timing being pulled so you are most likely running less timing than what would come in the 91 octane tune.

It ran good on 91 with 93 fuel since 93 is all you can get here. I changed as I was concerned about running the 91 tune with 93 fuel. I am not familiar with how to use the predator to check these things.
